When it comes to gardening, there are a hundred and one tools that are utilized for different purposes in the garden.  However, there are a few basic tools that can complete a multitude of tasks in the garden, and truly, a lot of garden tools are unnecessary.  The basic tools necessary for every garden include shovels, spades, rakes, and post hole diggers.  Shovels have been an essential gardening tool for centuries, useful for planting, moving dirt, and dozens of other simple tasks.  Spades are great for those smaller plants that don’t require deep holes, and for digging trenches to plant seeds.  Rakes, like shovels, have dozens of practical uses. 

Now you might be thinking: post hole digger?  Truly though, there are lots of circumstances in the garden where you need to dig deep holes, or remove clay and hard dirt, for these situations, a post hole digger is essential.  In many ways it has applications like that of a shovel, plus you can always use it for setting up fences, raised beds, and markers with its intended ‘post hole’ function.
